My Gardening Journal

 

My gardening journal is what I use to plan, prepare, care for and keep records on my garden.  I keep notes of how often we eat particular veggies so I can prepare a garden that will meet the needs of my family year-round.  I keep notes any time I do something besides water/weed my garden.  I keep lists of average plant, transplant, and harvest dates, average frost dates, and yearly do’s and don’ts for the next year.  I also have a gallery section of my seed packets and the ideal planning times and illustrations as plants grow.  I will be using all organic seeds in the coming year (and then hopefully saving my own seed)  so I wont be using the same packets, but will likely be using the same varieties and no matter what vendor I purchase from, identical varieties should produce the same information on the back of each pack.  In the off-season I can use ideal planting times on the pack of the packages to plan what gets planted early indoors and what goes directly in the soil outside and when.
