How dads can bond with their breastfed babies Four
ways you can strengthen your bond
Alright dad, hats of too you for
supporting your baby’s right to breastfeed.
Breastfeeding is one of the most important things your wife/partner can
do for your child, and your support is very important.
But how can you bond with your baby when mom is taking over all feedings?
Luckily, feeding your baby is not the only way to bond with them! 1). Respond to your
baby’s cries. Especially in
the early months, a baby cries because it needs something.
Crying is the only way your baby knows how to communicate. Babies don’t
cry because they just want something, and you certainly won’t spoil them by
picking them up and figuring out what is wrong.
You will be building a bong with your baby when you respond to his or her
cry though – your baby will learn to trust you.
If baby is crying because he or she is hungry, you can transport to mom
and stay near while baby is nursing. 2). Help with baby
duties. Even changing
your baby’s diaper is a simple and easy way to bond with your child.
Giving baths, holding, burping after feeding, changing clothes, rocking,
playing with and singing to your baby are additional ways in which you can build
a strong bond with your baby. When
you are taking care of your baby, your child in turn learns to trust you and
enjoy your company. You may not
enjoy changing diapers, but your baby appreciates it! J 3).
Play an active role as a parent Take part in
your baby’s doctor’s appointments and go out with your baby and
wife/partner. Go for walks, wear
your baby in a sling, cosleep, and experience your baby’s glowing face when he
or she experiences new things. Just
the simple act of being around your baby will help your bond strengthen.
4). Remember, baby is
always listening Avoid arguing,
loud talking, swearing and negative attitudes around baby.
Your child will pick up on them and it can scare them and effect them in
negative ways. Even if your baby Is
sleeping they can be effected. Keep
the attitude in your home comforting, loving and upbeat, your child will thank
you!
