Mommy is having a baby at home!

Thank you for your interest in my book. This book was written for my children as one of the many ways my husband and I prepared them for the homebirth of our third baby. My daughter is three and a half, and my son is nearly two. The voice of this story was written to my children, using the experiences from my past births to help prepare them for what they would likely be exposed to during the next birth. I have never written a children’s book before and realize that the voice of this book may not be suitable for all ages. Use your preference, change words as needed, etc. I also incorporated some situations from my childbirth and sibling preparation classes (I am a childbirth/new parent educator) to address common concerns.

This book is available for free as an e-book as a way to help other moms have a way to prepare their children for a future homebirth. The Lord planted the seed in my head, and after talking with other moms and educators I realized there was a need for such a book. So, here it is. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope the Lord is glorified as He should be throughout the book. After all, it is Him who gives us the ultimate blessing of bearing and training His children. I hope this book does justice, and helps bring the Lord into your pregnancy and birth. As a bible-believing wife and mother, I have noted the absolute importance of having God in our lives, every day in every way. If you are looking for more ways to incorporate our Lord into your lives, or just want to know more about Him in general, I would love to talk to you and help you in whatever way I can.

You may find it helpful to print this book out one-sided so you can cut/paste pictures from magazines or from the internet to give more pictures. For an older child, it may be helpful to show some pictures of fetal development, how a baby is born (fetal descent), and more pictures of what newborns can look like when they’re born.
